Every setting, explained

Every setting, explained

A map of all eleven sections in your settings, what lives in each, and which ones change what your clients experience.

Settings is one page with a list down the side. Here is the whole thing, so you can stop hunting.

Account

You: your name, your picture, how you sign in. See your profile.

Security & privacy

Two-factor login and your recovery codes. The single most valuable ten minutes in this list. See two-factor login.

Appearance

Light, dark, or follow your system. Yours alone, it changes nothing for your clients.

General

Your language and your timezone. Your language is independent of your clients' — see language, theme, and timezone.

Billing

Your subscription to Vylan.

Payments

How you charge your clients. Two things live here:

  • Get paid by clients: connect Stripe. Takes about five minutes, and Stripe handles the checkout, your identity check, and your payouts. See connecting Stripe.
  • Default prices: a price per service, which pre-fills the request-payment box. You can still change it every time you ask.

Automation

Vylan describes this section as everything it does on its own, without you clicking. Three things:

Integrations

QuickBooks: connect, disconnect, and the chart of accounts Vylan reads. See connecting QuickBooks.

Documents

How Vylan handles what your clients send. This is the section that changes what your clients actually experience, so it is worth reading properly:

  • AI document checks: your usage this month, whether checks are Active or Paused, and when it resets.
  • Auto-reject invalid uploads: bounce unusable files automatically.
  • Auto-reject duplicates: bounce exact copies automatically.
  • Auto-ask for missing pages: chase a missing page from a multi-page document automatically.
  • Include Quebec tax forms: on by default. Off hides the Quebec-only slips from every checklist.

All of that is covered in how Vylan checks each document.

AI Assistant

The in-app assistants. See Ask Vylan.

Data & privacy

Vylan's line here is short: your data is yours, export everything as a ZIP, any time.

  • Export all firm data: clients, engagements, files, and the activity log, in one ZIP. See downloading all your data.
  • Delete my firm: emails support, and everything is wiped within 24 hours.

Deleting your firm is not a soft delete and there is no 30-day window like there is for an engagement. Export your data first. Once it is wiped, it is gone.

Team

Appears once team mode is on. See turning on team mode.
