Invoice automation
Vylan can send the invoice itself when you finish a job, immediately or after a delay you choose. Or not at all, which is the default.
Finishing a job and then remembering to bill for it are two different tasks, and the second one is the one that slips. Vylan can do it for you.
The three choices
In your automation settings, Invoice automation default has three options:
- Off — send invoices myself: nothing automatic. You send each one. This is the default.
- Send when I mark an engagement complete: the invoice goes out the moment you close the job.
- Send a set time after completion: the same, but after a number of days you choose.
Why you might want the delay
Marking a job complete and being ready to bill for it are not always the same afternoon. A short delay gives you a window to notice you forgot something, without you having to remember to invoice at the end of it.
It is a default, not a rule
This setting decides what new engagements start with. Every engagement can still be changed on its own, so the one client you handle differently stays handled differently.
Stripe first
Invoice automation needs your Stripe account connected before it can do anything. If it is not, Vylan says so and points you at Get paid by clients in your payment settings. See connecting Stripe.
Default prices
Alongside it, Default prices lets you set a price per service, which pre-fills the request-payment box so you are not typing the same number every week. You can always change it when you ask.
