Your own notifications

Your own notifications

What Vylan tells you about, whether it emails you, and when. Per person — these are your settings, and they have nothing to do with what your clients receive.

These settings control what you receive. They do not change anything your clients get — client reminders are set on the engagement, and turning your own email off does not stop a single chase.

What you hear about

Under What you get notified about every kind of event has two switches: In app and Email. Some cannot be switched off, and say why — Always on — you need to know about this and Always on — required for billing.

Those are locked rather than merely recommended. A firm that muted its own billing alerts and then wondered why nobody knew is the failure being prevented.

How much of the firm

How much of the firm decides the breadth: All firm activity or Only what is assigned to me.

Assigned-only really does mean assigned-only. If somebody mentions you on a job that is not yours, the scope filters it out and you will not hear about it. Pick it for quiet, not for safety.

When email arrives

When email arrives chooses Right away, an Hourly summary, or a Daily summary at the time you set. A summary is one email instead of eleven, which is usually the difference between reading them and filtering them.

How much detail in email is Full or Minimal. Minimal is worth considering if your email goes to a phone that other people can see.

Quiet hours

Hold email overnight between the From and Until you choose, and Hold email on weekends too if the weekend should stay the weekend.

Quiet hours hold back the ordinary traffic. The handful of things marked always-on are exactly the things you would want waking you, so do not treat quiet hours as a guarantee of silence.

The feed

The bell keeps the recent history. It starts from when notifications were switched on — nothing older was backfilled, so an empty feed on a new account is normal rather than broken.

Deleting a notification from the feed removes it for good. There is no bin for these.

Chasing your CLIENTS is a different thing entirely — see how automatic reminders work.
