Demo mode and going live
A new firm starts in demo mode, where nothing is emailed to your clients. Switching to live mode is one button, and it is the one that turns the chasing on.
Vylan starts you in demo mode on purpose. You can build engagements, invite yourself, click everything, and get it wrong, without a single email reaching a real client.
What demo mode stops
Vylan tells you plainly at the top of your settings:
You're in demo mode. Emails to clients are paused.
That is the important part, and it catches people out. While your firm is a demo, the automatic reminders do not send. Everything else looks like it is working, because it is: the schedule is built, the engagement is live, the stage moves. The emails just do not go out.
If you have sent a real engagement to a real client and they have heard nothing, this is the first thing to check. It is the single most common reason Vylan looks broken when it is not.
Going live
- Open your settings.
- Find the demo banner at the top.
- Click Switch to live mode.
The banner disappears, real emails start sending, and anything that was paused resumes on the next run, within about fifteen minutes. Vylan tells you what it picked back up: it names how many engagements had their reminders resumed.
Only the firm owner can switch to live mode. If you are a member and the banner will not budge, that is why. See owners and members.
It is a one-way door, in the good sense
Live is the normal state. There is no reason to go back, and Vylan will tell you if you try, because your firm is already live.
Next: your first engagement.
