Time in Vylan works two ways, because there are two honest situations: you are about to do something, or you already did it and forgot to say so.

The timer

There is one timer, and it lives in the launcher so it is the same timer from every screen. Start it with Start timer, say What are you working on?, pick the client and — if it belongs to one — the engagement.

While it runs, Timer running stays visible wherever you go in the app. Stop it with Stop timer and the entry is written.

One timer per person is deliberate. Two would mean two half-recorded afternoons and no way to tell afterwards which one was the real account of your day.

Writing down time you already spent

Most time is remembered rather than timed. Log time takes the date, the client, the engagement and a duration.

Durations are typed the way you would say them. 1:30, 1.5 or 90m are all an hour and a half, so nobody has to convert minutes into decimals in their head.

The Note is what makes an entry useful in three months. e.g. T2 review call tells a story on an invoice; a blank note does not.

Fixing it afterwards

Every entry can be corrected. Edit entry opens the date, duration, engagement and note; Delete removes it. On the week view, a duration is editable in place — Duration — click to edit.

Time you record against no engagement is fine and is meant to be used. No engagement (general) is where the admin hour goes — the one that is real work but does not belong to a client's job.

Seeing the week

The time screen reads by Day, Week or Month, with a running Week total: so it is obvious whether a week is actually written down or only half of it is.

If your firm has more than one person and you have the permission for it, Whose week switches between people.
